Christmas Day

I spent a lovely Christmas day yesterday with my husband, daughter, brother and sister. My sister hasn’t spent a Christmas with us in Nova Scotia since 1959, so it was an extra special Christmas. We also phoned our other sister, who lives in Ottawa, after we ate our turkey dinner of free range turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and brocolli with plum pudding and sauce for dessert. We miss our son who is living in Thailand but will talk to him by phone today or tomorrow. We took several pictures of us opening gifts and I will be putting some of them on this blog today.

In the afternoon we drove to Eastern Passage and I took more pictures. The Fishermen’s Wharf was desserted because it was Christmas day. Usually it is crowded with people walking on the boardwalk, along the wharf and the parking lot is filled with cars, regardless of the time of year. As we drove home at sunset in the late afternoon, we looked at some of the decorations and lights on the houses. It was a lovely sunny Christmas day but I would have liked some snow flurries falling to give it some Christmas atmosphere. We had a great day talking and enjoying great company and food.

Our stores are closed today on Boxing Day so if we decide to use the gift cards we received for Christmas, it won’t be until later this week. It is probably a good idea to stay away from the malls for the next few days because the crowds will be crazy tomorrow.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas,
Anne
