Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. We are waiting for our turkey to finish roasting in the oven, which should take another two hours. As soon as that is done, I will make the gravy and cook the potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots and brocolli. This year, instead of putting the stuffing inside the turkey, I cooked it in a separate casserole dish, for a change.

Yesterday I made some cranberry sauce, a pumpkin pie and a lemon meringue pie for today’s dessert. Everyone has their own way of roasting turkey. In the past I have cooked it at 425F for 15 minutes, then reduced the heat to 325F until it is done, keeping it uncovered. This year, I followed the directions on the turkey label, and cooked it covered for a less amount of time. I plan on uncovering it the last half hour, in order to brown it.

On Saturday, we drove to Peggy’s Cove in order to take some pictures. We haven’t been there in years. It hasn’t changed much, except it is a little more touristy, and the roads leading there are all newly paved. I put some of the pictures I took on this blog, so you can see what it looks like, if you haven’t been there. It was a beautiful, sunny and mild day, and a very enjoyable trip. It’s hard to take a bad picture there, because it is so picturesque. It has been ten years since we have been there, but hopefully we won’t wait that long before we go again.
