Everyone Hates Spam and Those Spammers
Sunday April 29th 2007, 8:51 am

I had to have the comments area removed from this blog today because I started receiving too much spam and junk mail. It was taking too much of my time everyday to remove the spam, so having an area for comments on this blog wasn’t worth the hassle. Does anyone even read spam. Maybe the people who distribute it feel that even if 5% of this stuff gets read, it is worth the cost of sending it. I don’t know very much about spam, but I know it is illegal and difficult to locate the spammers. It is probably also very inexpensive to send spam to every available computer they can find, because the only operating costs would be getting the mailing lists.

It would be nice if there was some kharma justice in this world, and that all spammers and other people who spread viruses and make computer life unpleasant, and very expensive for some unfortunate victims, get back as much bad luck as they have spread. Does this seem mean spirited, yes, but I am sure most people feel that they deserve it. Computers are amazing and getting more so every day, but we shouldn’t have to put up with the bad stuff, in order to get the good stuff.

I have been lucky, so far, that I haven’t received any email spam. I must have a spam filter on that, and I don’t open anything if I don’t recognize the sender. I don’t know why reputable companies allow spamming of their products. I would think less of a product which is associated with spam, and probably wouldn’t buy the products. Advertising is just the tip of the iceburg with spam and junk mail, because there is just as much pornographic spam being sent out to the unsuspecting. This is especially bad when the recipient is a child.

In a perfect world, there would be no spam or world hunger, and there would be peace everywhere. There is no hope that any of these things will ever happen, no matter how much we wish they would.

Have a good day,
Anne
