Queen for Easter
Sunday April 08th 2007, 7:50 am

We had a very unseasonable snow storm last night. I was hoping we had seen the end of the winter stuff, but I guess not. I was checking the weather information across Canada, and it looks like most of us are getting unseasonably cool temperatures, and with that comes snow. It won’t last much more than a few days, but we still have to shovel it today.

Finding Something To Do When The Stores Are Closed
Friday April 06th 2007, 10:28 am

It was a pleasant surprise to see that the weather forecast has improved for the next few days. Instead of rain and clouds, today and the next few days will have some sunny breaks. I just checked the webcam at Halifaxwebcam.ca on the Halifax Harbour boardwalk, and there are more people out and about than usual. With most people off work this Good Friday, and most of the stores closed, there will be more people looking around for places to go and things to do.

The Easter Weekend
Thursday April 05th 2007, 2:40 pm

I guess everyone’s getting ready for the Easter long weekend. When I was working, it was great it get four days off work, without having to take any vacation leave. It’s especially great if the weather is good, which isn’t the case this weekend in Nova Scotia. The weather forecast for the next four days is cloudy or rain and cool temperatures. It could be worse, we could be getting snow as they are getting in some parts of the Maritimes, Ontario and Quebec. Yuck.

The Pet Food Recall
Tuesday April 03rd 2007, 11:49 am

When I first read about the tainted pet food, and which brands of the food were being recalled, I felt bad about the pets who became ill, but very relieved that I had never bought those brands for my dogs. That was a few weeks ago, but recently, other pet food companies have been recalling more brands. There have been four companies so far which have recalled their pet foods. The tainted food includes both the better quality and the cheaper brands of dog and cat foods. Menu Foods has already recalled over 60 million cans, and even brands such as Hill’s Prescription Diet, Alpo, Jerky Treats, Gravy Train and Pounce have been added to the recall list. I wonder how these companies will be able to regain the trust of their customers again. Even though they have stated that all their food is now safe, I doubt that I would ever buy any of those brands, and I am sure many pet owners feel the same way. When it comes to our precious pets, we want to make sure they get the best we can give them.

A Good Nights Sleep
Monday April 02nd 2007, 10:53 am

Country air always effects me in two ways. It makes me more hungry than usual, and it makes me sleepy. It has always done this, and I don’t know why. It could be because I am getting more exercise in the fresh air, or maybe it is just the fresh air. It’s a good thing I don’t live in the country full time. Whatever the reason, when I returned home yesterday afternoon after a day at the cottage, I was tired, and I was hoping for an early night and a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, one of my favourite television shows, Amazing Race, was on for two hours, so I didn’t get to bed until late. I may have been overtired, so I didn’t have a good sleep. This morning I overslept, which usually causes me to be more tired than if I wake at my normal time.
