My Favourite Links
Wednesday September 13th 2006, 1:36 pm

I put some of my favourites as links on my weblog. I have a 10-year gardeners journal and every morning I check CBC.ca and CTV.ca for the daily weather which I record there. I also put a few lines about my garden and things I did that day so I have daily records since I started writing in the journal in April, 2004. If I go to a movie, I check with Roger Ebert.com before I go because I don’t want to spend time and money on a crummy movie and I usually agree with his reviews. I think that Google News is one of the best news sites available and MyConnect.ca is a new website about Nova Scotia which started a few weeks ago and seems interesting.

Neron Family Tree
Tuesday September 12th 2006, 9:32 am

Today I put the Neron family tree on this site. My paternal grandmother was a Neron and she died in 1922 when she was about 30 years old so I never met her. Someday I would like to go to the Baie Saint Paul and Sainte Tite des Caps area of Quebec to visit the old cemeteries of my ancestors. This area is on the St. Lawrence River northeast of Quebec City near Ste. Anne de Beaupre which is a famous tourist area.

September 11, 2006
Monday September 11th 2006, 9:52 am

Today is the fifth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre. There have been many television specials this week remembering the attacks and it was indeed horrible. A readers poll in our newspaper today showed that 65% felt that it is time we scaled back services honoring the event and move on. Our newspaper is filled with stories of Canadian soldiers being killed in Afghanistan and stories of the war in Iraq. Most Canadians feel that we should not be in Afghanistan. The only ones who feel we should be there are people connected to our armed forces and the current government. It would be good if we could get out of Afghanistan but our government feels that because we made a commitment that we should honor it. It is more than likely because our current government wants to remain in Bush’s good graces. Most Canadians can see that we will be there for many years and there will be many of our soldiers killed. The Taliban may be weaker in Afghanistan but we may never see the end of them.

Romkey Family Tree

ROMKEY ( RAMCHEN, RAMICHEN, RAMGE) FAMILY

Romkey is my mother’s maiden name. Most of the Romkey’s in Nova Scotia still live in Lunenburg County of Nova Scotia. The Romkey’s who moved to the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia from Lunenburg in the 1820’s are no longer living in that area. They have either moved away or have died. There are some Romkey’s who live in the village of Eastern Passage in Nova Scotia also. All Romkey’s who live in North America are descended from Nova Scotia.

Getting my photos ready
Saturday September 09th 2006, 8:20 pm

Yesterday I was looking at Rosie O’Donnell’s website and I noticed that she uses flickr for her photos so I signed up. I am in the process of uploading some photos now so I will be able to get them on this site soon. I will show pictures of our cottage, my family, my dogs and our summer vacation.

The best mustard pickle recipe I have ever tasted.

My son, who created this weblog for me, told me he is trying to make it easier for me to put pictures on this site so it may take some time to have it up and running. I have limited computer skills so for me to put pictures on the site on a regular basis would require more skill than I have. I hope it all works out but in the meantime, I can continue with my blog.

Welcome to my website
Wednesday September 06th 2006, 10:38 am

My name is Anne and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I thought it would be a good idea to have my own weblog. I wanted to put online some of the things I find interesting and some of my views on things and people I encounter. I am a middle class, middle aged woman so my views are different than quite a few of the younger bloggers on the internet. In the next few days I will be putting some of the family trees I have researched, some family pictures, good books I have read, good movies and TV shows I have watched and anything else I find interesting on this weblog.
